Would getting flagged bump it down? It's a shame people don't think this is a worthwhile conversation to be having.

I wouldn’t take it personally. There’s a lot of people with the ability to flag.

so why not flag it?

I don't think you should flag it until the discussion devolves. So far, it's pretty reasonable.

That's what flagging is for. Why don't people flag more?

How about flagging it?

It's ok to talk about it! we answer questions about things like flagging all the time.

It's not - it's better to just flag them and move on.

It’s easy to flag. Would not take much effort.

I believe, though, that flagging something that ends up popular can count against you.

Why would you want to flag it?

Why do we have to flag it instead of eloquently and politely discussing it?

Agreed.

"5,000 people flagged this" would be a visible public notice that most people don't want it there.

Flag it, IMO.

Should we be flagging it, then?

Gee, what excellent conversation you make. Flagged.

Well, doesn't it make sense to just flag it? I think that might be in the spirit of the site...

If enough people flag these, then it becomes "not OK"

Why so aggressive? I’m just speculating on why people might flag.

This is a definite no. Public flagging opens up flaggers to retribution. Then no one will flag at all and the system breaks down.

The deterrent to flagging too much is losing flagging privileges. (and I'm speaking from experience)
