I think you meant bolt not volt.

OP said the Bolt, not the Volt.

The Bolt isn’t the Volt.

Volt = hybrid, Bolt = electric

A Volt is a hybrid, not a pure electric. (The Bolt is Chevy’s BEV.)

That's the Volt, not the Bolt. Completely different car. The Volt is a plug-in hybrid. The Bolt is all-electric.

This is why I bought a Chevy Bolt instead of a Volt.

Bolt EV

The Volt isn't made any more, for one. And it's smaller (lower to the ground, at least, and less head clearance). I wasn't comfortable in the Volt, but the Bolt is great.

TFA is about the Bolt, not the Volt.

Opel Ampera is the Volt not the Bolt.

Should've been Jolt, following Volt and Bolt.

Important distinction: there is both the Volt--which has a gas engine for when the battery runs down--and the Bolt--battery only.

The Chevy Bolt is smaller than the volt, and it is no longer discontinued.

Volt was a stepping stone towards the Bolt. Bolt was intended to be mass volume, not a compliance vehicle. But you are right...once Bolt was good enough there was no need for Volt.

"GM executives wanted an EV that could generate serious volume. The design should be expressive and distinct without veering into “science project” territory, Norris said."

Additionally, if it was only a compliance vehicle it would be sold only in the US. But it was first sold in Korea

"The Bolt is making its commercial debut in Korea, albeit only 400 units initially are being distributed to winners of a lottery draw held among the few thousand applicants who had completed orders. Bolt sales have just begun in the U.S."

I have a Volt, love it, and hate them for terminating it.

However, the Bolt is stupidly cheaper to manufacture. Probably even with this recall, it's still going to be cheaper.

Exactly my point! It’s a shame that the bolt (a car of indiscriminate quality) has been so named as to cause this confusion with the volt, (a car of discriminate quality).

Other than the fact that "Volt" rhymes with "Bolt", why is the all electric range of a Chevy Volt relevant to the Bolt?

This surprises me as I know some very happy Volt owners and I assumed the Bolt would not be terribly different. I see a fair number of them at the charging stations at my workplace.
