Yeah so I don't know what's going on. For some bizarre reason they didn't cut one open before squeezing. So we don't know.

That doesn't make sense. A simple x-ray would show that the internal components have been removed.

Article doesn't explain how these are formed.

Presumably there are moving parts involved, they are just too small to see.

It's very strange. There's really nothing to indicate what they were there to do.

All the theories about motivation make the whole operation seems kinda clumsy and weird.

There’s no explanation in the video but there is some blurb underneath.

Seems like just an oversight or mistake given nobody's given any details

I don't see a video of a person actually unfolding this thing, which looks like a complicated process when your friend gravity insists on helping you out.

Odd article in that it doesn't actually explain the procedure or identify the hardware used.

still no update about how it was done

surely they would have some idea

The lack of generated assembly shown makes this explanation just as likely.

They are not showing how the rest of the thing works ...

> It makes you wonder how the thing is built.

No one really knows, and Cutler won't say or doesn't know, himself.

None but I don't think that's what we're talking about. Have you seen the pictures in the article?

Measurements aren't a concern, but what's "behind" them is unknown.

So no one opened up one of these and looked at the components?

These don't look like instructions, unless I'm misunderstanding something.

I am still wondering what it is. Theirs no documentation.

I read it as though they might have miscalculated which tools they would need to open it, and now that it’s partly opened inside the “anti-atmosphere box” they can’t easily add additional tools.

The whole story seems a tad off given https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40389997 and that no one could be bothered to find someone to work for ~$5 million to put them through an autoclave.
