You're describing society at large. This has nothing to due with "conservatism".

Your understanding of conservatism is profoundly stereotypical and incorrect.

Conservatism is tolerating racism, tolerating police shootings, tolerating Nazis, tolerating inequality, tolerating the poor dying of curable disease while the middle class goes bankrupt from the expense of having a baby, tolerating the destruction of wilderness and national parks, tolerating ever growing climate change, tolerating school shootings, tolerating sexual harassment - but refusing to tolerate (LGBT) love, refusing to tolerate women being equal, refusing to tolerate trans people peeing (anywhere at all).

Conservatism is morally bankrupt and ethically untenable. It shouldn't be tolerated.

this isn't (just) conservatism though: it is social repression; the conservatism just attempts to keep it that way.

conservatism

Where is the conservatism coming to the public consciousness? I don't think that is the case as such.

Conservatism has consistently been on the wrong side of every social issue in history, so I feel safe calling this 'theory' out as nothing more than teenage angst at a world they feel has left them behind.

That is not the definition or description of "conservativism". That is a strawman.

It's bizarre to me that this is an opinion people have unironicaly. Conservatism is not equivalent to Nazism. For society to actually function there needs to be a healthy tension between the status quo and possible reform

I didn't mean to write off social conservatism. I just meant that it's unappealing to roughly half the country and it's unclear what liberals are supposed to tell men and women to discourage this behavior.

My use of the term "conservatism" refers to the "averse to change or innovation and holding traditional values" or "tending or disposed to maintain existing views, conditions, or institutions" definitions, not the meaning associated with American politics.

Conservatism and conservatism are 2 very different things. One is a political movement, and one is an aversion to change.

Regardless of political ideology, large organizations tend towards conservatism.

The intent of conservatism is to conserve positive aspects of society.

You probably need to say “traditional conservative” or something like that to get at what you are talking about. What you see is what conservatism is now. Unfortunately.

Conservatism means a lot of things. It's a loaded word, and I don't think applying it here adds any value.

Meh, this is a pretty shit article based on some twitter-style "hot take" definition of conservatism, I know people love getting ragebaited but there is no reason for anyone on either side of the argument to bother responding here.

You have an extremely inaccurate and flawed understanding of conservativism. It's like you have concocted a view based on stereotypes and MSNBC editorials. Or are you deliberately misrepresenting?

And I am not saying it is wrong, but it is a form of social conservatism.

it appears that some people disagree with my comment. but i do not understand why.

am i misunderstanding what conservatism is?

or do people disagree with the idea of equality between men and women?

or with the idea that valuing family more would be better?

It's called conservatism
