The Drudge report is used by several million people every day. It happens to be one of a handful of sites on the Internet my mother in law can actually parse and use reliably.
I aspire to make something as unusable as the Drudge Report someday.
Knock the politics all you want but Drudge Report is an effective website in that it clearly conveys info to it's Target population. Website looks really cool @OP!
I personally dislike much of Drudge's race baiting, religous baiting, and a host of other things he does on his soapbox, but I check his site more than any other for news.
No fluff, ridiculously fast load time, perfect balance of content and advertising. It surprises me that so many in the news world attribute his success to his views or scoops. I know there is a sizable minority like myself that read it regularly simply because it is the best designed news site on the internet.
Drudge Report is actually quite good, if you can parse out the obvious conservative bias. Drudge is the undisputed king of independent media, and in my experience stories get broken and fleshed out on Drudge faster than any other source.
I'm not sure why you're being downvoted. Maybe some people are too blinded by their politics to think objectively.
The fact is that, visually speaking, Drudge Report has been the Craigslist of news for almost a quarter of a century. A big reason for its success is that it is easy and familiar to use, which is particularly attractive to its target demographic.
I've heard of Drudge Report before, but never really understood it. Who / what does it cater to and what is its function, a sort of one-man curated news reddit?
