It seems that way because the headline is a lie.

Headline is a lie that the article body quickly contradicts.

No, it's not true. Some minor news outlet misunderstanding things.

True. Which leads us back to that it is a "Misleading sensationalist headline." as somebody else mentioned here.

That's quite a bait-and-switch of a news article. The headline claims something, and then the article body says that, actually, they have no idea if their headline is correct or not, and their only sources were a deleted tweet and another tweet making vague reference to an apparently nonexistent newspaper article.

Maybe because it's an article commenting on a trend of inaccurate reporting, and is itself inaccurate.

I really dislike misleading headlines, so it could, or could not, right? This says nothing.

This story and headline seems misleading at best, and fake news at worst.

Maybe, but the article doesn't actually present any evidence that that's what's going on.

This headline isn’t supported by the article at all

The way it is presented on HN is active disinformation. The headline is simply false.

Agreed, the headline is massively misleading. Journalism at its finest

No. I’m questioning whether this article is being truthful in its reporting.

Yeah this article seems sensational to the point of being deliberately misleading.

I don’t know, but their clickbaity headline writing isn’t doing their credibility any favors in my book.

This seems like an awful long time to wait to backpedal on an issue that they strenuously claimed was true. Or maybe the headline is misleading.

I think both the headline is wrong (I don’t see where they explicitly warn people, can someone point it out?) and the interview contains no actual facts. The only statements are "probably" and "I’m not sure"…

Even the text of the article clearly doesn't support the headline.

Wow that is the most egregious, sensationalized headline I’ve ever seen. It might as well just be plain dishonest.

The existence of this news article says no.
