Escape isn't a key I find myself using very often. I think I probably just lift my hand up off the keyboard since it's used so infrequently.

That's fine but you can still do that without the physical key, can't you? I'm still able to escape out of dialogs like that without needing a physical key.

Not even a developer key: `escape` is a very convenient UI mechanism for getting out of something modal or otherwise overlayed and open.

The position of the shift-lock key is terrible for something as powerful as Escape, for most users, especially those with bear paws like mine. An accidental press can have grave consequences. There's a reason it's at the corner of the keyboard. And it's the one key everybody can find automatically.

Some keyboards, like "hacker keyboard" (f-droid) have an escape key.

People should remap it anyways. The escape key is the farthest away key, yet it's the most frequently used key. I have it to `jj`.

I think mostly it's people not being familiar with escape key. If you think about it, pretty rare you use Escape in anything other than a game..
