The third party reddit apps are a lot better. I prefer Reddit Is Fun on Android but I know there are several good options besides that on both mobile platforms.

There are many better third-party reddit apps out there than the official reddit app. Although seems like Android has more options than on the IOS side. Apollo is the only one I found so far on IOS that is fairly decent and feature rich matching the ones on android. Any other recommendations?

Just commenting to say that there are third-party reddit apps that are pretty good. Boost for Android is the only way I browse reddit anymore.

Beyond performance, the entire reddit mobile experience is terrible anyway. It's advised to use the unofficial 'reddit is fun' app which is simply amazing in comparison.

There's a rich ecosystem of incredible third party reddit apps on android, as an alternative. Reddit is really unpleasant to use on the mobile web, even without the dark patterns.

What are the best third party reddit apps?

3rd party apps are a better experience than old.reddit.com to be honest. Rif, sync, boost, relay, etc.

I've tried most (if not all) of them on Android and stopped on "reddit is fun" as it's the most pliable for my needs.

Have you tried any of the third party android apps? Definitely a step ahead of old.reddit and many times better than the current default...

It's best at a desktop with old.reddit and res, but the better apps are a close second.

There are several good 3rd party reddit apps available. RIF on android is my choice.

For mobile there are good third party clients. I'm using "Reddit is fun", very no-nonsense app

The reddit mobile page is a (bad) joke and the app is far inferior to 3rd party offerings (personally I use Sync).

For anyone on android, "Reddit is fun" is hands down the best I've used.

I seriously don't see how people put up with the main app + non old.reddit.com site. It's just miserable and ad filled.

At least reddit allows third party apps.

The good thing about reddit is that it has a good API, allowing for 3rd party clients. There are a couple great ones for both iOS and ANDROID.

Reddit is fun on Android is so much better than official reddit one.

In almost all situations, I prefer the mobile web over apps. But reddit's mobile offerings are _so bad_ compared to Reddit Sync. I know at some point Reddit will pull the plug on third party apps, and that's when I stop using Reddit.

Agree on both fronts. Reddit is way improved with an app, but the official app is trash. I prefer relay, but I know that there are many other quality apps out there that folks recommend. Feel free to comment with your favorite.

Why is Reddit's official app so bad that people prefer third party apps over it? Maybe it's related to them brute forcing the app on you when you attempt to browse reddit in a mobile browser.

May I recommend using any 3rd party app for reddit instead of the official app. I use relay on Android and it is great. There are many other options, all of them are better than the official app.
