Seconded, I'm in the same boat. I realize attempting to wipe my data from all the various sources it may be in across the web is futile but I'd still like to try.
You think you're going to get discovery to even prove this? Plausible deniability and even just ignorance will likely cause you to get nowhere with wiping this collected data.
I'm not optimistic at all, but there is little else I can do. Best case scenario I can prevent the further spread of my data while it bit rots and becomes less useful. I will join the class action that is sure to come out of this, too.
Unfortunately, this is how I feel at this point too... Though I might be special here, as the group that dumped my data was the US Government, and the data they dumped is ALL of the important stuff, including a photocopy of my DD-214...
Makes me a little sad to think of it gradually succumbing to bit rot, even though I know everything does and I don't mind that some of my own data is going the same way. If you want to preserve it I bet it wouldn't be too hard to rustle up volunteers to try to retrieve and transfer it.
Is there away to prove the data is actually deleted? It's not really gone forever is it, just removed from the search index. Other copies will have been made by various agencies. I suppose for most purposes thats ok, but not all.
