Or at least because people incorrectly think it did.

v6's L3 model is pretty much the same as v4's.

There is an overlap. Both V4 and V6 are currently LTS until April.

That's not L4 vs L6, that's start in 2015 vs 2108 or whatever.

You might want to double check. The latest turbo models for 4 and 3.5 don’t differentiate. There is only one model and it has 128k context.

Thanks, I wasn't aware they changed regularly. From what I can find, 4 v4 IPs have changed since 1997, plus the addition of a number of v6 IPs over the years. I'd be curious to know the last time all IPs were different, if ever.

I don't disagree. Luckily I just checked and it seemed the model was added to LVFS this month so I don't have to think about it so much.

That 3 series depreciated that much, because they came out with the new model this year.

No, he also wrote that the V2 was easier to maintain..

Production of the low-end model was fine though, uh? How convenient! This is exactly the same that happened with the 2012 redesign. I'm sure it's all a coincidence though. Uh-uh.

(btw: "I'm certain that's probably" says it all, really.)

It's not even true today. The V90 does not have a hybrid version.

I have a v3, and I really like it. Do you have any objections to the later versions?

No, it's Model "III" not Model "3" #wink.

There are big discrepancies in the US alone. I'm comparing mine (L6+) to those.

I’m pretty sure they did on a number of models, but it wasn’t for the better

There was a version for the 128K +3A though.

How do you know they didn't change the model?

Maybe it beat out its ancestors that had 4 variants instead.

The stable ABI was originally supposed to come with v3, though. They pushed it back earlier this year. Now it's "probably v4".

I admit that I did not remember the difference between the 3G and the 3GS when I wrote the comment.

That's the same for every company I think, you always miss stuff when designing the V1

Thanks for mentioning that. You sent me down a brief rabbit-hole of nostalgia looking for the EV4/EV5 differences. If anybody else wants to go down that rabbit-hole here's where I ended-up: http://alasir.com/articles/alpha_history/alpha_21164_21164pc...
