Interesting. I've listened to Gruber's podcast before, but don't think I've heard Ritchie on as a guest. I'll find an episode and dig in.

I've watched Ritchie's Youtube channel on and off over the last few years, and he still gives me the same feeling as his written work.

The Ben Thompson episodes of Gruber’s podcast would give you a good idea.

You need to listen to Gruber shred Roman numerals - it's pretty funny. Episode 155 of The Talk Show.

Thanks for the link. Haven't listen to that podcast in many years, but am excited for this. It's funny that his style of thinking and writing is clearly kind of similar to Nick Sand, if you've listened to the previous episodes with him.

+1 on Jon Bernthal. I was very skeptical at first but he gets very unique guests such ex-gang members and policemen.

Many popular podcasts just have guests who are obviously trying to promote a new Netflix special or book.

He stutters and the outcome isn’t that polished but if you can adapt to that his podcast feels very authentic.

Wow, didn't see that coming. Just last episode Dan & John were talking about reviving the movie review series with Hitchcock. I wonder if it has something to do with bringing Dalrymple on full time on Amplified, or Dan's persistent admonishment of Gruber's use of wifi during recording, or maybe Monteiro poached him with a paycheck. Yeah I know it makes me a bit of a jackass to speculate like a celebrity gossip writer, but this is infinitely more interesting to me than real celebrities.

Geoffrey Grosenbach of the Ruby on Rails podcast interviewed this author, John Medina, in the following two podcasts:

I enjoyed the interview with him on Lex Fridman’s podcast, too. Some repeat of the book, and some new material.

I haven't checked the podcast, but the YouTube channel has uploaded some videos featuring him pretty recently, which I found to be very amusing.

Hypercritical is by far my favorite podcast, it took the top spot on my playlists from the Talk Show a long time ago. I get the impression Siracusa does that podcast for fun, not profit and would never ditch Dan like Gruber has.

He talks about this in his appearance on the Lex Fridman podcast. He's my favourite guest, fascinating guy.

Summary: Dan used to listen to podcasts daily, used to get a real feel for the people he was listening too. So he thinks it's a bit of a shame they can't even do a "one last show." But he wishes all the best.

I love listening to 5by5 episodes. Mainly the siracusa one, and at some point I'll check out Grubers new podcast. My thoughts are that losing Dan from the show is a negative, he's a great speaker with a soothing voice and I enjoy the smalltalk he makes.

He does an interesting podcast here: http://5by5.tv/hypercritical

Thanks for all the links. I will definitely be checking this out! I had watched Nathan Barry's screencasts with Michael Hartl, but I didn't know he was active on HN, these links look pretty good, so I'll want to read these over! Thanks again.

his interview on otherppl is good too: https://open.spotify.com/episode/3Ipny0XxrVKKwj4BKbTpIp?si=9...

i love how his speaking style in that interview is like his stories, meandering tangents and fascinating

Agreed, Lex Fridmin was a standout podcast for me this year. I didn't have any idea who he was before the podcast but he has been getting some insanely famous guests on his show in what seems like the very year it was becoming popular.

My favourite episode of the podcast was his interview with Geohot I think because I just like hearing Geohot speak and when he's speaking to someone that's not asking easy questions you end up with George giving some very interesting answers to questions about AGI and self driving.
