I think the point is that people still remember the ICQ brand. Whether they did or did not use the actual ICQ client 15 years ago is less important.

To this day I can't figure out how ICQ ever became popular, but yes I can vouch that there are still people who use it and probably always will.

Holy shit, ICQ is still around? I assumed it died 20 years ago.

My biggest takeaway from this article is that ICQ is still around.

ICQ still exists, doesn’t it?

what exactly happened to ICQ? i haven't used it in years and years

Apparently my memory is faulty, but I could have sworn I tried to find ICQ 10ish years ago and found it no longer existed. I guess what I likely found was that no one I knew used it anymore. I wonder whether they still have a significant group of dedicated users.

Blimey I didn't know anybody still used ICQ!!

ICQ is still around ? Impressive.

TIL; icq still exists. Good memories.

ICQ lives on as well, though not under the original management. The account I created in the 90s still works.

ICQ was like that since the mid 90's.

Basically this... And so many old school peddlers have stuck with ICQ and it's just easier for them to keep using it instead of adopting a new modern form of instant messaging.

A couple of years ago everybody had ICQ, at least here in Germany. I wouldn't say that it "didn't take off".

I'm quite frankly amazed ICQ is still alive, I thought it was one of those things that had just died out some time ago.

Didn't ICQ have this feature in the late 90s/early 2000s? I feel old saying that.

This makes me think of ICQ .. whatever happened to that?

Things I learned: ICQ still exists.

The sad reality is that ICQ was more functional and cross platform than IM are on skype 20 years later...

No, ICQ was the shit back then!
