Unfortunately, he's not trying to vote, raise children in the US, or earn money. He just wanted to tell people how to write better software (conference speaker) and his non-immigrant visa is apparently not forthcoming.

sort by: page size:

He's not gonna get a visa for the US.

He's not a US citizen.

He is not a US citizen.

And lack of higher education and professional experience makes him ineligible for any kind of visa.

Err, even disregarding the fact that there's more to life than the money you earn, staying in the US wasn't even an option for him.

he said he is not american neither US resident

Also, he's not a US citizen.

(Edit: error on my part. His passport was revoked, which is what I was citing, but apparently he remains a citizen.)

Not the first time he's been unable to get a Visa in time for a big conference: https://fas.org/blogs/secrecy/2013/10/shamir/

This guy is a fraud and known pathological liar, but he got entry to the Unites States because what - he's European and has the label "entrepreneur?"

But whoa, refugees? No thanks.

Excuse the snark, but why is this guy here and why is anyone lending him any credibility at all?

This doesn't appear to be true.

> In 2015, he was denied a visa to reenter the United States by the U.S. Embassy in Barbados, which claimed that he had not sufficiently proven ties outside of the United States that would motivate him to leave at the end of his visit, causing fears he might become an illegal immigrant.[8][7][9] Later in the same year his visa was approved by the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, and he visited the United States in June 2016 to speak at a conference in Denver, Colorado.[10][6]

He’s a resident of Singapore, so “looking to leave the US” was not really relevant. Seems he should have stayed away, though.

Hes actually a foreigner living in CA on a visa I believe, so I'm not sure.

According to his GitHub, he's in San Francisco. He's a US citizen living in the US. The EU can't touch him.

The bigger issue is that he is likely now without a work visa and has to scramble to avoid deportation.

He is not eligible for that program (the EB5 visa), as a result of renouncing his citizenship.

He's not in the US

The biggest mistake made here is the inconsistency. He was invited to do business training yet has no job to go back to.

At least he didn't do anything stupid enough to get banned for ten years.

Next time: Try being nice to the border guard. Let them do their job but at the same time try to engage in some conversation that is of interest to them. Don't try to engage to much. Social engineering goes a lot further than the rule book.

Don't forget border guards know how to use the the internet and read his blog/website/Resume. Which leads to the question, if he wasn't working for upverter anymore, what exactly was he wanting to do in the US.

He doesn't have any leverage, that's the point of his visa.

Even worse. The policies he advocates are keeping other people out entirely. Even Adi Shamir (the S from RSA) had trouble getting a travel visa a while ago.
