I have been looking for a keyboard, but fails to find one. - ergonomics - wireless (bluetooth or a tiny USB dongle is OK) - mechanical keys - mac cmd-key - below $200 USD

I am not sure why it is so difficult to find one like that :-(

In case anyone stumbles into this thread and is looking for the same specs that I was but with a mechanical, check out Keychron. My requirements were:

* Bluetooth

* USB-C (for charging and wired mode)

* Mac layout

* Small form factor similar to laptop keyboard

* Not outrageously expensive

I’ve been very happy with the one I bought.

I have no affiliation with Keychron. https://www.keychron.com/

That keyboard is amazing!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find anything like that that you could by off-the-shelf.

I’ll check that keyboard out! Many thanks.

What I want is pretty much the exact same keyboard that is in my MacBook Air, but as an external one. TKL, small inverted T layout, TouchID.

They're hard to find, but I've finally tracked down a place in Australia (mechkb.com) that will internationally ship me one of these convertible Cherry MX key babies, that supports both Mac and Windows, both bluetooth (pairing with four devices) and USB (for low latency gaming and charging):

What I would really like is a version of the Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard, that is backlit + mechanical. And WIRED, please, I hate wireless keyboards.

You know, if this was a foldable ergonomic keyboard, and also supported OSX/GNU Linux I'd be down. A standard keyboard though, well I can get a nice smallish mechanical switch one for a hundred bucks.

>Apple wired USB keyboard they discontinued

There are third party clones. I've been using this one for the past ~7 years and it's been wonderful.

These prices are too high though, it costs about $20 where I live.

Every time I read about people's obsessions with keyboards I feel like an outsider. Am I weird? I've been using the same Logitech K120 that costs around 10€/$10, my muscle memory is important.

The keys are in the usual places instead of multi-function keys, arrow keys are separated, it has a numpad... I'd like to have dedicated media keys, but that's the only thing I'd change. I keep buying it and have spare ones just in case.

I'm not into this myself, but at least a keyboard one might actually use?

I would love a reasonably priced keyboard that was the ms natural keyboard with mechanical switches. (I know people have hacked together their own but I'm not that committed to the keyboard shape.)

20 year old Macally iKey keyboard purchased from CompUSA back in the day.

I’ve tried, but can’t find anything I like better.

This looks beautiful, but personally I'd like a full sized keyboard with a numeric keypad, and the usual complement of Home, Insert, PgDown, PgUp etc.

Also, what is pricing like?

Apple Magic Keyboard and Logitech K380. Love both to bits but wish they were smaller.

I am looking for a 40% Planck ortholinear with low profile keys and Bluetooth, but such a beast apparently does not exist yet.

compact G84-4100 Cherry mechanical keyboard here, $20 new off eBay ;-)

Makes a racket _if you hammer away_

Wish the cord was a bit shorter (might be 6 feet), other than that, love it, tiny little gem.

That's the missing model from the Logitech lineup!

They have compact keyboards, keyboards with easy bluetooth switching, and keyboards with a builtin stand, but no one keyboard that has all three.

Logitech K380. I can type faster on that thing than any mechanical keyboard. It feels like the old gen MacBook Pro keyboards to me, but more crisp. (The gen before they started doing weird Touch Bar stuff.) It has 3 bluetooth channels so I switch between my work laptop, personal laptop, and desktop with it. Works great between macOS and Windows, too. And I’ve had it for a year and haven’t had to change the batteries yet.

Mechanical keyboards are cool but turns out they aren’t for everybody. I spent a lot of money on them and ultimately discovered I don’t really like any of them. They’re clunky to type on for me. I tried Cherry red, blue, brown, and also Topre, and I still just like my dumb $30 keyboard more.

Go to any computer store and look at keyboards.
