Thanks for posting the link to the "old" Reddit, by the way. It should be default on HN in my view.

sort by: page size:

I think HN changes the URL to use "old.reddit.com" instead of "reddit.com"

If I remember correctly, HN automatically converts Reddit links to old.reddit.com (less user hostile).

I really appreciate linking directly to old reddit rather than the crap default.

That’s the only way to get to the normal reddit though. If you don’t add the “old.” to the link, then you end up in the dark pattern this post is complaining about.

(Apologies if I missed a joke there)

Link should be to old.reddit.com

FWIW - I was still served the old.reddit.com link from the HN frontpage. Maybe that's already known behavior, or not. Just thought I'd share!

I just want to comment and say thank you for linking to old.reddit instead of the worse standard version.

Please use old.reddit.com when linking from HN :(

Maybe dang could even make it an automatic redirect?

HN automatically changes reddit URLs to the old. subdomain. Currently the URL is https://old.reddit.com/over18/ not a link to the actual post. You might to repeat the correct URL in a comment. (Unless it points to underage content of course)

Thanks to the poster for linking to old.reddit.com!

If you have a Reddit account, you can opt out of the New Reddit design, so Old Reddit is displayed without the link needing to be prefixed with "old.*".

i still use old reddit, but via www.reddit.com, it's a preference set in the settings.

Interestingly, the link leads to OLD.reddit.com

Is this some HN global setting or are people really linking to OLD.reddit.com?

Seriously though. I have old reddit UI always on by default and forget to keep adding the "old" prefix when posting links, so apologies.

I will leave reddit too if they remove the old version.

link to old.reddit.com

Appreciate the old reddit url, so much more readable imo.

old.reddit.com

Then in Preferences make sure "Use new Reddit as my default experience" is unchecked.

Regarding desktop, and even mobile. old.reddit.com still points to the previous version of the site. It's less than ideal for mobile but you can set this as the default site in your account settings. It's under beta section, need to uncheck box for using the new reddit site.

Use old.reddit.com, not the new interface. There's an extension called old reddit redirect that redirects links to the former automatically.
