A CEO is the head of sales for the company’s stock if it’s that kind of company.
He or she also tends to do a lot of recruiting or at least oversee that process a lot.
AI could replace some of the decision making and optimization for revenue, etc. but I’d see CEOs using it rather than being replaced.
Of course that will be the case for most jobs. AI will only replace jobs that are nothing but generating low to mid level content and/or making very uncreative decisions whose answers can be found latent in existing training data.
We will always need a charismatic human being to be the figurehead of an organization, so I don’t think AI will ever replace CEOs. They will wind up making the important decisions though.
With any luck, the roles most suited to AI replacement will be CEO, COO, and CFO. But I'm sure if that turns out to be the case, the researchers will be promptly fired and the information quickly buried before anyone ever learns of it.
AI will replace CEO and most other executive staff before it replaces professional employees. They won’t let it happen, but the capability will be there and sooner or later businesses with worker / stakeholder guided AI leadership will significantly outcompete human leadership.
Even if an AI could replace CEOs, they won't. The entire point of AI is to allow the capitalist class (CEOs and stockholders) to maximize profits by automating away the cost of employees. The people AI is intended to benefit, who are making the decisions about how and where AI is deployed, are not going to declare themselves surplus to requirements.
Shareholders will replace executives immediately, and I don't think it's far off.
If you think executives are safe from AI, well I think you're crazy.
Imagine saving hundreds of millions a year in executive salaries by hiring a robot that has 1000x better strategic capabilities than you, is 10x cheaper, has absolutely zero empathy, never sleeps, just optimizes for money and just makes the required cold hard decisions ?
AI will most likely eliminate most white collar workers up to and including CEOs when they are "good enough". I look forward to a board of directors replacing this try hard with AI.
yeah man. for sure AI is gonna change roles and make some jobs redundant. But it will create replacement jobs, like literally every other technical advance in history.
I suspect that if an AI can replace the job of a CEO then all other jobs will be gone as well.
