The "Spilling into IRCv3" is him accusing someone suggested for board membership of lying, the thread he links ends with the conclusion that there is no evidence to support his claims.
Seems like he is the one spilling the drama he complains about into IRCv3.
Not sure why the writer attacks his "sock puppet", it's not a sock puppet, his wording actually obscures but does not lie. He is in that discord, with other students.
If you think he's trying to hide on that account, and that's all your evidence, then you're just being emotional.
Don't trust anyone you meet on the internet as they may be the CEO.
> someone named christel somehow sold you an IRC network 5 years ago, unbeknownst (until recently) to the people operating the IRC network on their own servers.
This is false [1]. The PDF clarifies a great many of the unanswered questions and verified that despite former staff attempt to say I was lying, all I did was spoke the truth and helped when asked.
Please review the PDF.
Lastly, I also run servers on freenode and have for years preceding the acquisition.
The PDF puts to rest all the falsehoods and uncertainties in my opinion but please let me know if there is something I missed!
the author of that post was called out by the HN mod for engaging in vote manipulation in the past, and lying about several aspects of the GPT3 post [1]. I wouldn't put so much faith into that author
There's no lack of transparency here. Linode expressly said in their blog post that no CC details were leaked.
> In addition, we have found no evidence that payment information of any customer was accessed.
The question isn't transparency, but trustworthiness. Either Linode is telling the truth, and this anonymous IRC person with a pastebin is trolling everyone, or Linode is lying (or alternatively, Linode is incompetent and simply didn't detect the CC access). At the moment I'm going with Linode is telling the truth, because honestly, am I going to believe an anonymous person on IRC over a company I do business with?
Thanks for this, I misread your comment. Sorry about that.
It's still tricky to believe a claim made by one person on the Internet, but in this case, I think one should look at who said it, when they said it, whether it's credible (this "board secret plan" claim is not), and what people directly involved have and have not said. I've said my peace now.
It just seems odd to me that a seemingly well respected engineer would fabricate allegations using his corporate e-mail (VMWare). We should remember it was not he who posted them publicly.
I'm not saying it's true but only that I don't see any more evidence that it isn't true than that it is - yet.
What? He's providing the link to reddit to prove that Zoe Quinn called in a Swot team. The source is reliable for matters on Reddit, but that's not what we are discussing.
This is entirely bullshit. This guy is still on the payroll and will say anything to calm the community down / discredit people who think something is up.
Draw your own conclusion, but the original "leak" is very repetitive and doesn't provide any solid evidence. Sounds like someone got banned and has a chip on their shoulder, or at most an ex-employee who had a bad time.
Based on his HN linked Twitter and his LinkedIn from googling his name, that does not appear to be the case at all. Not sure why someone would lob an accusation like that.
This is a claim by one member in a smear campaign saying they're not working with others despite everything happening in a day or so. Their claim isn't worth anything.
If this turns out to be a dodgy submission for self promotion it is mildly embarrassing for IndieHackers if they admit error in this instance.
If it turns out you have seen no solid proof for these claims and amidst the heavy skepticism express by multiple people in this thread you do not investigate and demand proof, than that calls into question the rest of IndieHackers
If "cronyism" wants to come out of the closet and admit who he or she is then we might know how much weight to give these unsubstantiated accusations. I have received similar representations privately as PSF chairman, have asked for evidence, and have not received any.
For the record, I have the utmost faith in Jesse's integrity as PyCon chair. I have not bothered to canvass my fellow directors, but I doubt any of them feel any different. The Foundation owes him a huge debt of gratitude for the immense amount of work he continues to put into this role while holding down a full-time job and being an active parent. It is obnoxious in the extreme to slur him in this way.
So let's see "the money trail," and let's have these accusations in the open so we can see that they are, in fact, simply unsubstantiated waffle.
It's also a false claim since CodeHero just posted an update saying that the project is continuing. Dustin was essentially lying through his teeth, because he had no evidence. He just wanted to incite a mob.
Seems like he is the one spilling the drama he complains about into IRCv3.
