Agreed. Having Jeff and Joel on the podcast was great and the hosts really complimented each other. However, once Jeff left, that was pretty much for me though and I tuned out after a few episodes. Just wasn't the same without Jeff.

Personally, I was a latecomer to the podcast and was about a year behind the launch of SO but still in top 13 today.

With Jeff, loved the podcast. But without Jeff, not so much.

I mostly agree. I started listening from the beginning and loved the deep leanring/CS/physicist/neuroscientist/philosopher guests.

I think he began running out of those people or just wanted to expand. Some of the new format guests are great, but I skip many episodes now, whereas before I enjoyed 99% of them.

Still, at its best it remains one of the most informative and insightful podcasts I know of, largely due to the guest expertise.

The Stack Exchange podcast will not be the same without Jeff.

Wish I could say I was rushing back but other podcasts have filled in during the 2 years they've been gone. That's just my personal experience, though.

I'll second that, it died only because the new host couldn't fill her shoes. Conversely Matt on SpaceTime has done a great job taking over from Gabe.

This has been my experience as well. Another commenter mentioned this but I also feel like guests have been less interesting since the move to Austin. I used to be a daily listener now I feel like it can be months between interesting episodes.

Craig Cannon, who was doing the podcast, left YC and it stoped. Couldn’t say why they failed to find a new host. I thought it was gaining good traction as well.

Jeff has moved on, though.

Jeff/Joel really buggered up. They did a bit of course direction and ended up even further off course. Oh well. The platform is important, but having the skills and personality required to build a bonza community are more important.

RIP that podcast. It's not the same show anymore.

Urs and Jeff were amazing. Something has changed though. Granted it’s been 15 years since I worked there, but some of the incredible spark that used to be there seems to have gone out.

Hopefully this means they go back to actually focussing on Independent software development and entrepreneurship. I stopped listening to the podcast after what felt like the tenth unrelated big business content creator or VC interview and the actual community became a boring series of promotion and PH launch posts.

Glad to see if back in the founder hands with a fire to make it great again.

Ironically I was the opposite, liked his early comedy and MMA, but left when the podcasts started.

Although Jeff has definitely moderated his approach significantly over time. Not sure OG Jeff would be as fine today as modern Jeff is.

I've found myself enjoying these less since Lex rebranded the podcast. I can't quite put my finger on why and I haven't watched the previous few.

Is it worth jumping back in for another try?

Not surprised..i stopped listening when he moved. It was entertaining but not enough for me to move podcast platforms.

Agreed - can't help but wonder if the popularity of TED overshadowed and sped their demise somewhat.

I always felt they were more of an aggregator of podcasts and didn't overlap TED at all. Sad to see them disappear.

That was the only reason I went there. There podcast also went off the deep end over the past few months and has been terrible I used to love it and listen to it regularly since 2016ish.

Count me as one of those who slowly quit playing when Scott quit hosting. He was definitely part of the reason I tuned in to play last year for a few months. And the fact that it was nightly, and not many games seeming to happen all the time.
