It's only a matter of time before Google starts doing the same thing. I can't imagine Google wont do it eventually.

I wonder if Google will follow suit.

Probably won't be long before Google starts applying similar pressure.

Maybe that's what Google will try to do.

This is probably what Google will do soon. We'll see!

Surely google won't let this stand for long, right? As soon as it gets any kind of popularity google will intentionally break it.

They already have. It's called Google.

I don’t think google will do it until users start leaving in significant numbers at least. And that’s seems unlikely.

Google is already trying to :)

I am surprised they haven’t done that yet. With all their feistiness against Google in last few years, this seems like a very logical next step.

How long before Google forces you to have a Google Account to even search? I think we all know it's probably going that direction eventually.

Google had better do something soon about this, but they're damned if they do (cite the AOL experience noted in the piece) and doubly damned if they don't. Wouldn't like to be in their position...

how much longer do you think google is going to allow that?

And after that, I wonder how long it will take google to get around that.

Honestly, I really doubt Google would care. It's not like people will stop working for them or using their products.

Why hasn't this happened yet? It seems like Google has been behaving this way for a very long time.

That strategy will last ~15 minutes until Google is doing the same thing.

Then what? I would argue that what Google is doing already is way more privacy-compromising than this.

They already do, or at least hope that google does for them...

...You think google is going to do that?

Google is likely just going to block this behavior.
