I'm sure his billions of dollars will be able to straighten out the visa application.

I hope he doesn't end up as another guy trapped in an embassy. With any luck he'll actually make it to the country.

I think he doesn't have visa issues

Possibly he already had a visa.

And you think the US will grant him a visa to work being a fugitive of a muslim country?

I wonder how much of this it would take to get him to seek asylum in another country?

Yeah, but I don't think his current visa was given out "of the goodness of their hearts"

It's surprising the Russians issued him a visa after he entered their country illegally. Fingers crossed for him arriving there today.

I haven't seen any articles discuss a major issue: his immigration status. If he's on a visitor/business visa he likely only has 6-12 months in the country. If he's there as a tourist, 90 days. If he overstays his visa, he can be arrested and deported.

My guess is he expected non-medical sponsored visa as a person of special interest to Australia. And as a 9 time winner, he had every right to at least hope for such case. If political circumstances in Australia were different, and/or if he was less vocal, he just might got it.

Surely he can apply for asylum in many countries, considering his extraordinary circumstances.

The bigger issue is that he is likely now without a work visa and has to scramble to avoid deportation.

Seems like if that request is denied then he’ll have confined himself to the embassy for nothing.

I'm sure he's relieved to hear he's able to go to Venezuela.

He might want to visit the USA some time.

If he immigrated legally, I'm not sure the current administration has done anything to hurt him

If lack of US citizenship were the only problem, I have little doubt it would be given to him regardless of his wishes.

He's not gonna get a visa for the US.

He should appeal to the US for political asylum, for completeness.

True, but they won't let him enter the US now that he has too many passport stamps.
