Yeah I'm lost too. The Pro is almost twice the price of the original chip, and afaict the only difference is that it's a little smaller (and has no USB port).
Huh?
I've got a handful of the original CHIPs, and they're great for what they are. But I don't get this "Pro".
Fascinating, thanks. I've been considering the Pro, but my current one still does everything I need it to and more so I can't justify the purchase, but this makes me a little more content with my status quo.
why not the pro for a few more hundred dollars? or wait for the upgraded version in the summer? you get a noticeable performance boost, dedicated graphics card, touch bar, and so on?
Maybe I am completely off the marks here, and I'm sorry if this is off topic, but as someone who follows very closely what Apple is (or isn't?) doing in their Pro machines I am very curious how those specs compare to what everyone is asking for from Apple. The RAM is obviously low, fine, but it sounds like the CPU and GPU are significantly more capable than anything that Apple is shipping right now, and Microsoft will sell this thing at a fraction of the price that Apple will sell any pro hardware. What am I missing? Where is the big gap in component cost? How is something like an Xbox so different, and so much cheaper, than a pro level desktop?
Config/pricing pages are open now, and it looks like the Pro does match the higher-end Studio configuration. The upgrade choices and prices match too, so they top out at the same spec. Minus the tiny detail of PCIe expansion of course. Pro has a few more ports (extra HDMI and 10GbE, couple more TB4s) as well.
