Single Family Home

single family home.

Single family home (?)

Single-Family Residential

probably single family home

OP said _home_, not single family house.

Single family home, usually also implies detached.

I interpret they mean single-family, detached house, with significant front and back yard, with the current sizes of suburban houses (2000+ sqft).

I'm the EU, most homes are terraced. There may be a back and front yard, but they will be tiny compared to a US home.

Single family homes are both expensive and uncommon as land is generally more of a premium.

Most single family homes in neighborhoods of major cities are like this, provided your home is one of the 90+% that is not on a major road.

60% of US housing is detached single family homes.

They aren't all huge and architecturally peculiar though.

I was guessing you lived in an apartment complex but am pleasantly surprised by the sensible solution for single family homes. Thanks for sharing.

For others who don’t know the lingo:

TH = townhouse

SFH = single family home

... I think

In the US, new single-family homes are typically built by a real estate developer according to a common design. The first buyers are usually allowed some limited input on the design (choice of colors and decorative materials, size of garage, perhaps an optional additional bedroom or bathroom) but the core architectural design is chosen by the developer and cannot be changed.

Town houses are currently the answer. I understand they aren't like single family houses but they are better than apartments...

What is a multiple family home?

Several years ago the city of Phoenix released plans for a net zero single family home: https://www.phoenix.gov/sustainability/home

You do have to provide some basic info to get them but I can confirm that they're a full set of plans.

Apartments? I thought tents are classified as single family homes.

actually, this probably isn't what you had in mind, but there are quite a few single story houses that are torn down and replaced with McMansions.
