I think this blog goes into more detail: https://blog.waymo.com/2021/06/beyond-the-bike-lane.html

This article may be (2021) but if you click through to https://bikelanesweeper.com/ , there is a September 2023 update: https://bikeportland.org/2023/08/24/portland-will-be-testing...

Also interesting is what, if anything at all, has happened since that news, over three years ago, about rediscovered 1930s cycleways.

I hope most people will be biking long before we get close to that level:

This would be the first time im hearing about something like this. It sounds like the bike path was very successful.

Do you have more information?

A little off topic, but you should check out bikeindex.org

"And the one-way thing for bike routes is likely based on the widespread understanding ..."

There are many examples of one-way roads with two-way bike lanes, ie San Francisco:

Perhaps soon we'll get cycling directions.

Thanks for that link. I'm just starting to explore the biking roads around here and the history is interesting.

Where is your bike lane data from? For example, the chicago loop detail on the linked page is incredibly (years now) out of date, and would send people down routes that have replaced bike lanes with dedicated high speed bus lanes.

This is great! For inspiration: "From The Netherlands to America: Translating the world's best bikeway designs"

A bit different but when I was cycling during the pandemic, I got into https://wandrer.earth where the goal is to bike every street in your area.

Bike Lane Uprising maintains data on this. Maybe it would be interesting to contact them for the dataset.
