I've lost my dongle twice now, but only because of being in a hurry during travel or packing. Otherwise it's always attached to my headphones and I don't really have that problem. Although I've considered getting BT headphones to use so I would just stop having that problem. But then I'd never be able to play music at people's houses, so...
I have really good headphones but I just use the dongle. So I've never had an issue. Never lost the dongle cos I tied it to the end of the headphones with a small bit of velcro.
Everyone who doesn’t throw that useless weird dongle out with the box will lose it immediately. This is not a technical problem and you cannot fix it with a technical solution.
You are missing the fact that lugging an adapter is not a realistic option. I lived the dongle life for almost two years. By the end the darn thing had started glitching on me and you could not buy replacements. I'm lucky it didn't damage the charging port...
Not that it matters, I still didn't have it with me half of the times it turned out I needed it.
I actually considered buying like 10 of them. Now we are talking about 100 USD of the crap and a MASSIVE and daily inconvenience just because the manufacturer decided to save a couple of cents. This shit is just ridiculous.
I have one from an old laptop I haven't used for decades. I keep it with all my other dingles and dongles that may or may not ever be used again, because if it ever happens, there are no other devices that could replace them.
I keep the provided adapters, and sometimes purchased adapters, for nearly every adaptable tech thing I've ever owned. Occasionally they've saved me from a lot of headaches.
A dongle that I have to carry everywhere, that is trivial to lose, and that blocks charging my device unless I buy an even more expensive and awkwardly shaped/sized dongle - a real winner.
I've lost every dongle I've ever had ... never again.
