The entire China narrative is a CIA psyop. Everywhere in the media you see China being portrayed as a massive threat, a looming threat to our national security. Every event in global politics involving China is twisted to fit this narrative by the media lapdogs of the CIA. Nothing could be further from the truth. China is extremely weak both geopolitically and in terms of leadership. It is the most geopolitically vulnerable country in the world besides Yemen et al. It has to import everything from food to intellectual goods. China poses precisely zero threat to us because China sucks.

The China balloon thing is a good example. It was an embarrassing mistake that was a result of disintegrating leadership structure in the cpp. It accomplished literally nothing and never could have. But these huge obvious questions were ignored by the media. Questions like “what did they stand to gain?” Nothing. “Was this deliberate?” Not on the part of ping. “What does this say about China?” That they are a joke of a country.

Look at mike baker on joe rogan. That’s how the CIA answered the rogan question, what are we going to do about this pesky guy who has a larger audience than cnn but isn’t a slimy media executive who would be receptive to our requests to shape the narrative around certain topics? They send in mike baker who handily fools rogan into thinking he’s just a good dude who used to be a spook. And they chit chat and once in a while, when the conversation turns to something geopolitical, mike sprinkles in some CIA narrative. Never believe anything a spook says.

The CIA and FBI are behind this thrust against disinformation. Where was this disinformation frenzy at when it comes to people believing in even more wild shit like the idea that the universe keeps track of your good and bad deeds and punishes you or rewards you accordingly? Or the belief that the position of the stars and planets determines what personality your baby will have or whether or not you’ll be given a promotion? If disinformation mattered as a principle then wouldn’t these things make liberals foam at the mouth too?

It’s so ironic that the liberal camp has become the exact opposite of what it used to be. It is the vassal of the CIA and FBI.

I would not trust anything written about China. They’ve become masterful at deception. They want to have this image that they are weak and limping as they slowly take over the West.

To give you some context, there is a massive government sponsored anti-China propaganda campaign going on in the US in order to give pretext to a Cold War style ramping up of tensions, economic conflicts, military conflicts etc. because America sees China as an economic competitor now like it did the USSR. This article and the sentiments of so many in HN are simply the result of that campaign.

Edit: It’s not a conspiracy theory when almost every China bad news story can be sourced to organizations sponsored by the CIA.

Do you have proof that any of the news about China (from tons of different sources, including other countries that are not America) is propaganda or not accurate? You're implying a global conspiracy is afoot to besmirch the good Chinese name when everyone has known for a while that they're generally bad actors behind the scenes when it comes to spying and stealing of secrets/IP/tech.

Another Chinese Regime sponsored psyop article.

The constant need to assume ill intent from China increasingly leads to outlandish conclusions which are simply unlikely to be true. In the space of 24 hours, the US media has moved from hyperventilating over what has been described as an audacious transgression of national sovereignty, to now a recasting of the story as ridiculously childish attempt to spy on the country. Schrodinger's China again, alternatively the most awesome threat to the rule based order, or a clownish country on the brink of guaranteed collapse. There is no wonder why we have amazing consistent record of 'getting China wrong' going back decades.

This is a weather ballon, that had a malfunction of its flight termination software.

The CIA definitely was not behind Tiananmen square and there is no way it could be behind a two million person strong protest...

Conspiracy theory is one of the strongest forms of propaganda. Alex Jones is dumb but effective. It’s a slippery slope before you start blaming the Jews for everything.

This depiction of China is blown way out of proportion and it's basically thanks to US propaganda which is used to justify the kinds of military spending and activities it undertakes.

Ah, the videos of Shanghai I saw on Weibo last year must have been part of a CIA psyop, then.

Anything China touches is automatically discredited.

This is simple conspiracy theory run amok about Russian fear mongering. There’s no proof about anything stated in the article, just some guy spreading rumors around.

China communist party has actual people spying on all levels of government, business, tech, academia, etc on a large scale. Documented cases of China communist spies caught red handed. Those are just outright criminal spying on US.

There are also mass disinformation and propaganda campaign run by China communist party state run media and tech companies. They run bot operations in all US social media. They run pro China communist party opeds in Establishment media.

Where are the non stop outrage about uighars, Hong Kong, Tibet, Tiananmen Square, Chinese slaves making Apple iPhones, China colonizing Africa? The active suppression campaign is on full force to suppress discussion of any negative stories on China behavior.

Why do people fall for this sort of stuff so easily? There is a pattern of western governments regularly organizing subversive, extremist, headline grabbing testimonies to further foreign policy objectives: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nayirah_testimony

I don't think the Chinese government is great either, but I'm pretty cognizant that the level of anti-China FUD is directly proportional to the accelerating economic growth and foreign influence of the nation. China is causing very positive economic development in Africa, Pakistan and other regions that are more than happy to partner with it.

I for one am not so worried about a Chinese Surveillance state being thrust upon Europe or the US.

china is one of the countries that we in america get propagandized to about. when i hear things about china, russia, venezuela, north korea, cuba, iran, and probably some i've missed, i assume i've recieved no information from what i've heard.

Cue the anti-China conspiracy theories. It's incredible how effective the anti-China propaganda has been.

People think Chinese propaganda is clever and insidious but in truth Chinese propaganda is extremely clumsy to the point of being essentially harmless in the west.

This is the typical level of Chinese propaganda: https://twitter.com/manyapan/status/1454346638596743173

For what it's worth, there's a substantial amount of anti-CCP propaganda out there (although I doubt it's straight from US gov but who knows). By propaganda I mean QAnon-tier nonsense.

I've had the great pleasure of hearing about it from certain relatives on a semi regular basis. One week you hear that trump will have the CCP dismantled within a month, the next week you hear there's going to be mass starvation in China and we need to call relatives (in mainland China) and tell them to stock up on food while they can.

The common theme is that Wang Qishan (not Xi, notably) is some kind of corrupt Boogeyman who controls China, wallstreet, etc etc

Right now US propaganda is in overdrive mode trying to lay the blame onto China ; there are no other views in mainstream media , and if anyone tries to doubt that, asking for evidence and reminding the world about presumption of innocence, they are instantly labeled chinese bots. So much for freedom of speech and thought

There is more to the story and the propaganda than meets the eye. With all of these stories you have to ask yourself 'why is this person writing this and why does it matter now'?

China is going places and across numerous sectors we can ignore China and tell ourselves that they just steal our IP and have no creative ideas of their own. We did this when Japan was going places and insisted they just imitated our cars, motorbikes etc. Nobody says this now.

In the Western narrative about China it is of considerable propaganda value to get some 'human rights' argument on the go. Whether or not China are oppressing people is immaterial to the argument and the propaganda. The point is that discussion is framed that way with China on the back foot if they buy into this narrative.

Incidentally, further West from this region where all the Chinese 'terror campaigns' go on is the NATO narco-state of Afghanistan. This is the model of democracy that has been put in place by our great leaders over the last 17.5 years.

There is a NATO modus operandi of buying guns from Eastern European countries getting them in to places that are sovereign but not aligned to Washington, hiring mercenaries, giving them the guns and calling them terrorists (or freedom fighters) to create a situation that requires the troops to be sent in for 'humanitarian reasons'. Other tactics include 'colour revolutions' and 'Arab springs'. This happens where the media tells a different story, for instance the situation in Venezuela is an example of this, but, if you only watch the mainstream news then your only thought can be 'those poor people in Venezuala, we must bomb them now so the food aid can get through!'.

China has existed as a large empire for many millennia and survived colonial ambitions such as the Opium Wars. China learned about printing too much paper money, having global colonial ambitions and the art of war many, many centuries ago. They don't have capitalist politicians running the show and values in Chinese society are more Confucius than Chicago school of economics. Chinese leaders see China as a beautiful garden, you may scoff at that, but that is how they want China to be and that is more important to them than having 'democracy' as in the Western capitalist version of empire.

So, to get to your point, China, as in this culture that makes Washington look like a toddler on Ritalin, doesn't want a Maidan colour revolution going on or any of that nonsense in the far provinces. Same goes for 'free Tibet' with a CIA asset Dalai Lama getting Western SJW types antsy.

Most of the online discussion centered around China is just US domestic political projection using an imaginary China as a mirror, or as a counterfactual which doesn't exist, and then there's the obvious propaganda too.

Anyone that trusts or believes what China says is gullible beyond belief.
