It can be purchased by a consumer and driven on public roads.

In what sense is it not one?

It's not a car. Legally anyway.

Don’t own a vehicle — have driven and “been driven” by one

Cars are not built only for public roads.

And then I can drive it on the road? Who is selling these vehicles?

Hmm.. are you sure? Don't they have to be street legal to drive on the street? You can probably buy one to drive on private land but that's about it.

I don’t think anyone would mind if the vehicle was being driven on private roads

Mostly, but it does convert into something you can drive on the roads.

It’s not really a car by law. At least in the uk it’s classed as a quadricycle.

My car happily drives on private roads, and even dirt and gravel, without government approval.

It's allowed in a few states in the US.

Last time I went to California I saw one up close, that was pretty neat (though I don't know if it was driving itself at the time)!

I made no such comments, but OK, sure, whatever you say. Bottom line is, if you cannot buy it, it doesn't exist to the public. You can't drive .jpegs of cars.

Do you drive it on a private road?

It depends on if it is being used as a vehicle for the party or a vehicle for the public.

It’s not a vehicle.

It’s classed as a moped essentially, which are also limited to ~30mph. It’s perfectly legal to go on roads, but not highways.

It’s a pretty good deal, I’ve been debating getting a moped, but the equivalent with a roof and a bit safer is certainly appealing

Not on public roads.

Not on public roads.

You can't buy a Roadster?

What makes it not a car in your opinion?
