Seems like this site could used a caching CDN lol

sort by: page size:

I don't think that would play well with cdn caching.

Can't they just cache let's say these 1000 marketing, sales and customer support pages into cdn then?

but for a CDN, you'd probably have caching. that would eliminate the need to take advantage of this kind of optimization

Wouldn't the CDN'd resource be already cached for most users (if we're talking about the average, often used resource)?

If you use a CDN isn't it cached across multiple sites?

I think most CDNs nowadays do not cache as much as you think because they are used for tracking.

Many sites use the provided MaxCDN URL though, which would be cached between sites.

The website is public. There's nothing keeping them from having using a CDN or other caching service or, better yet, setting up their own caching servers to handle the load better.

This is interesting... Is there some distributed caching server one could use for this, for increased uptime? Basically some CDN.

Using a centralized cdn would increase the chance of a cache hit.

Aren't CDN's usually caching legit data though?

A CDN is most useful for static sites, no? Since the page content rarely changes it's easy to cache.

CDN caching globally, please!

I assume it benefits from Embedly's CDN once it's cached.

We can still improve this by caching across CDNs.

Yeah if I was building a business website I would want distributed caching/a CDN, mainly to support spikes, like what is happening now!

Caching and a whole lot of it. Most of their pages could be served by a CDN.

How much do you think stack overflow is reading vs writing? How often do you even click a link from a stack overflow page once there?

Or you use a CDN in front of your site, caching the content under your domain. But certainly something to be aware of.

For more than a few years it's been guaranteed that it won't be cached, because caches are now partitioned per-website. The CDN offers no caching advantage at all
