Coinbase is nice, but dealing with their support is not a fun experience at all. For about a month they held about $2000 of my funds due to one of my purchases being marked as high-risk. Support took anywhere from three to five business days to respond to each email. I eventually got my money back after threatening with legal action. Would not do business with them again.

Eh, I wouldn't recommend Coinbase. They deemed one of my purchases from them as "high-risk" and have been holding my money hostage since. Support team has been taking 3-4 days to reply to each email in the thread.

I've had a similar experience with coinbase - likely the worst customer experience of my lifetime.

CoinBase is a terribly run company. I had the pleasure of using them for 6 months. Their support does not exist. Half of the transactions are held for a few days. The reason why they are still running is that they got the license to operate such business in many states. The moment someone offers the same but with actual support... their business will suffer.

I loathe Coinbase. Their support team is a joke (over a month with no response) and site stability is non existent.

Coinbase's support is... erratic.

For various reasons, I have to work with them. Occasionally, they reply immediately to my requests. On other occasions, I have to wait for months.

Coinbase’ customer support is crap. You van only get someone on the phone if your account is compromised; anything else goes to email, and they respond when they get around to it. Also their email verification system for transfers fails frequently causing transfers to be canceled. Pretty convenient way for them to keep your money. I am biased but I’m pretty unhappy with coinbase right now.

I've had the worst customer support experience with coinbase. I'd advise not using their service. They aren't equipped to support their customers. I'm out of pocket $1000 and have been in a "queue" for the last couple of months.

Coinbase has the worst customer service EVER. I once got locked out of my account, emailed them to their customer support line, three times. Never received any response.

I mean, we're not even talking about some trivial technical issue here. These guys have my real money, and I can't access them, and I try to reach them multiple times, but they just don't respond, I don't know how they get away with this behavior. When this happened I did some googling and looks like I'm not alone.

I ended up resolving it on my own somehow but have been looking for a different, safer service.

Coinbase took $50 from me two weeks ago and never gave me my coins. I have filed and updated a support request every day since then and haven't received a single response.

An absolute scam of a company, I'd strongly recommend people avoid them if possible.

I've been trying to log into my account for over 3 weeks with no response from Coinbase. They need to handle their own support issue better if they want consumer trust.

mgrunin isn't alone.

I have been having severe issues with Coinbase recently. Attempted to sell a small amount (less than 1) Bitcoin, and it has been nearly a month now -- no money in my bank. According to their own customer support representative, the transaction should take 2-7 business days. It has been more than double that. I've inquired again as to what the heck is going on, but I'm still waiting for a response. Unless they can get their act together and complete the transaction soon, I don't know if I'd trust Coinbase with my money.

Coinbase is such a trash company...It's exec's running the company have no idea what they are doing. From a consumer standpoint it's been a nightmare...They basically locked my account for unknown reasons to me, then stated they can't disclose there reasoning. I then had to open multiple support cases and wait a month before being able to move USD back to my bank...

Another terrible Coinbase story. A bug in their backend caused a transaction to go through to my bank account, withdraw funds, but not credit me coins.

Contacting support yielded no results at all. I had to go through my bank, close my account (which is a nightmare in itself), and get the money refunded via the bank's fraudulent ACH reversal process.

I would not trust this company.

Coinbase is horrible. Their customer service is none existent. I waited 6 weeks to get my bank account verified so that I could make withdrawals to my bank. They say send at least 6 EUR to their Estonia account. I sent 10 EUR and it never got verified. I e-mailed numerous times, tweeted their support account, and tweeted the CEO. No response from an actual person at all.

Moved my ETH and LTC elsewhere and sold to a private buyer.

They have developed a reputation for having poor, unresponsive consumer support. Try doing a twitter search for @coinbasesupport. At any given time, it's a horror show.

I personally discovered this after a time sensitive transaction took about 48 hours to complete because of a buggy deploy on their end. The only reason it didn't take longer was because I was able to track down a coinbase support employee on the bitcoin reddit.

My experience with Coinbase support was so bad--with them simply giving me obviously-wrong answers in a loop--that I would have been happier had they simply not offered support at all, as it would have wasted less of my time.

Yeah, their support is pretty bad. I got this response to my first support request:

> Thank you for contacting Coinbase Support! Unfortunately, we are experiencing a tremendous volume of support requests, and have not been able to answer your ticket in a reasonable amount of time.

It goes on to tell me my issue is closed and I can reopen it.

I have recommended Coinbase to many people. But, a few days ago, I had a double charge on my bank account from them and have learned since that their customer support is essentially non-existent. It’s been 8 days with no response by e-mail, their posted phone number results in a busy signal, and the alternate numbers I found posted on forums go straight to hold music before hanging up after a couple of minutes. I filed a fraud report with my bank.

Coinbase is such a shit company...My interactions with them have been absolutely awful. The ended up trying to use a AMEX gift card attached to my papal to buy some crypto, got no error but the funds never went through. Apparently they didn't like that transaction and was flagged as fraud. I was told I can't open a support ticket or have it reviewed for 2 months, "they can't disclose the reasoning behind this." So I had to dump everything I had built up in that account into USD and withdraw it.
