Found that guy's facebook. It does seem real, I mean the person seems real, but I still really hope they're doing this as a joke or something.

sort by: page size:

It's probably real, but we also don't know the full context. It could be a banter-y way of him introducing Facebook to a friend who hadn't heard of it, or something, and he could've just been kidding about actually giving information. Who knows for sure?

But knowing everything we know about Facebook now, it's probably more than likely true.

What is he making up? This seems like Facebook's MO as far as I can tell.

if this is real (seems it is a real screenshot)

how could/dare FB do this, hmm... interesting... like to learn more...

If it were real, why would it be posted on Facebook itself? That was my first clue, anyway.

Still a good short read IMO.

This sounds mildly implausible given that Facebook is full of links to things that aren’t itself.

I think it's safe to say that he/she probably is, at facebook.

I don't know facebook enough to know what person they are talking about. I absolutely believe the story though.

I'm going to give you benefit of the doubt and assume he was a facebook friend, rather than a close one.

Hard to take anything like this seriously with Facebook's logo on there.

This man has been on Facebook and has seen right through it.

Is this Facebook?

I'm sure FB can distinguish between real and joke relationships with high accuracy.

Hah, a blog post!Guy from HN! I know a person who told me, "I am a Facebook Celebrity". To my face.

Wait. You mean the guy is NOT on Facebook?

My first thought was that this must be a joke at Facebook's expense.

It is a fake account used in Facebook demo's on media days etc.

the real person in the photo is here: http://www.facebook.com/janesmith199

(edit: that person is also fake)

That guy does not seem to have anything to do with Facebook... interesting.

No, no, surely it's Facebook!

I joke, I joke.

I agree. I also think he was trolling. Though he may have used it as an opportunity to set social pressure against people leaving Facebook.
