I wish there were a site for subjective opinions. I often want to know what is a better library for a specific task.

sort by: page size:

Cargo's website is quite good. It is easy to punch in a keyword and compare results to figure out which lib fits my use case best.

I don't think it gets enough credit for being so pleasant to use.

I rated a couple I've read recently. I didn't review, though I might later. :)

I liked the interface the most. It's very easy to use to browse.

I switch between this site and debuggex.com depending on what I’m doing at the time. I find they both have their strengths for specific tasks.

Stackoverflow.com say that "Questions asking us to recommend or find a tool, library or favorite off-site resource are off-topic for Stack Overflow as they tend to attract opinionated answers and spam."

So what is the best site can I use to ask for a recommended library or tool?

What website would you say is better?

For me, I am content with Phorge or Gerrit.

https://we.phorge.it/

https://www.gerritcodereview.com/

Gerrit doesn't have as many features as Phorge but it triumphs code review and code search with low latency.

Fav4.org is nice, but I agree - a bit to simple. There is an alternative - zenstart. It has a Goolge seach box and the 150 most popular links: www.zenstart.com

that site is better than most, imho.

On what basis is your opinion founded? Most of the top websites in the world use RHEL or one of its brethren (aside from Google).

As long as the library is solid, the docs are complete and the tutorials and demos are great, it doesn't really matter what the site looks like.

I think sites like this would work better if everyone chose one and stuck with it.

Which websites do you consider as higher quality alternatives to the massive library that all 3 of those sites have?

So why you think this particular website must be the top answer? I looked at googles results and and I disagree, they are not bad, e.g. actual program examples, videos and papers for example.

Slant (http://slant.co). I'm certainly biased, but I think it's slowly starting to get pretty useful for picking a tool/app/service etc with the collaborative pro/con UI. Example: http://www.slant.co/topics/103/~what-is-the-best-laptop-for-...

Is there one of these directory style sites that does a decent job of user recommendations so that the best tools float to the top?

I'd like to see a proper comparison of Geeklist, Masterbranch, Coderwall, Workforpie, etc. That aside, gratz to Geeklist - and awesome product!

I second this, at least when compared with StackOverflow, Angel List and WeWorkRemotely.

I might be biased but I see myself depending on trusted sources - no SEO links, no spam! I want yelp for restaurants, stackoverflow for coding questions, reddit for opinions or allrecipes for recipes.

So I love you.com - it has an app for everything!

Yeah, as mentioned down thread, those are nice, but are too often tied to a particular computer.

I generally prefer the web for almost all things.
