Honestly I’m just impressed that the author managed to make this far without having any other vaccines at all, truly remarkable

Just a dynamo of a human incubator of disease and pestilence. And with children too! How unique!

Survivorship bias?

This was an exceptionally long blog post to say “we don’t want to be vaccinated and have no recourse if we refuse during a public health crisis.” Compared to other countries, these measures don’t seem onerous (Australian lockdowns, United States employer vaccine mandates, 14 European countries having a similar COVID passport).

>This was an exceptionally long blog post to say “we don’t want to be vaccinated and have no recourse if we refuse during a public health crisis.

That certainly is one way to read it.

It's the only way to read it.

He mentions a reasonable reason as to why his wife can't get vaccinated sure, but that has no affect on him getting vaccinated. The enforcement might be heavy handed, but as you mentioned other places including the US have some sort of vaccine mandate and moving isn't going to solve the issue.

People like him are the reason for the heavy handed enforcement.

"Your resistance is only making my dick harder."

"How our refusal to get vaccinated has upended my family's life"

> 5,000 word whining screed where the author carefully dodges addressing the obvious solution

> So what will we do?

What you do is you get the fucking vaccine. Sometimes you have to bend a little for the betterment of the society you inhabit, it's always surprising to see literate and otherwise-intelligent people who completely miss that.

Maybe it's because you are not that intelligent, have you though about that? it seems to be really close to reality to me

Or you can continue to fight the policies. You don't just bend "a little" for the betterment of the society when the policies aren't actually "for the betterment" of the society. Literate and otherwise-intelligent people will question whether a policy makes sense rather than just blindly follow it. I am more surprised that literate and otherwise-intelligent people who don't even try questioning policies and take whatever the government feeds them.

correct.

Does the author ever explain why they aren't vaccinated? I only skimmed the very long post, looking for a reason. They claim a medical reason for their spouse, and then jump to saying they oppose mandates. They'd be more credible as someone who opposes mandates for reasons other than being an anti-vaxxer if they were vaccinated personally, or at least had some fig-leaf reason for not being vaccinated other than opposing mandates. Refuse to use the app if you wish to take a costly stand, but get vaccinated!

He states that they do not oppose vaccines and believe they are beneficial for many people. They oppose vaccine mandates. He also states his wife has a long-term progressive disease in addition to being pregnant and don't believe getting the vaccine is worth the risk for her.

Where you live, is it normal to ask this? What I found lately even asking for IF one is vaccinated is kinda rude, let alone for reasons against.

This should be the rule - it's a private medical issue. Since the vaccines don't actually stop you from spreading Covid - there is no reason for sharing this information.

Yes, the vaccine is f**ng…

> Neither my wife nor I are Covid vaccinated.

Found the problem

Their covid pass has only a temporary recognition of those that have had the virus already.

Which seems illogical given that natural immunity has been shown to be better protection

"In the middle of August, our country added a fourth way to get the Opportunity Pass: "a sufficient level of antibodies" based on serological immunoassay for COVID-19 IgG antibodies or total antibodies test. Valid for 60 days after a test."

Now that every first world country has vaccine doses in excess of demand, I think a better alternative to all these restrictions would be to just give the voluntarily unvaccinated a lower priority during triage if they need a hospital bed for a COVID infection.

Of course, efforts should be made to expand capacity (my government was unfortunately too incompetent train more medical staff for this since the start of the pandemic).

Obviously, these people think that the disease is less dangerous than the vaccine. They should bear the consequences of their choice. Let's not endanger other's lives/prolong their suffering (surgeries are already being delayed again in my country).

I realize this could be a slippery slope, e.g. someone could argue that we should give lower priority to smokers, obese, or addicted people. However, the vaccine does not require any lifestyle changes and at this point it has already been given to billions and has shown a much lower rate of severe side effects than the disease.

Yeah, you obese, diabetics, alcoholics, smokers, all of them cost more life to society and money, that those of Covid, go and check whats the first cause, second and third in mortality, it is related to lifestyle, and if you have a good/healthy lifestyle, chances you get severe covid are reduced to almost 0!!!! you are the problem, no the people like me, you just don't realize how most of the unhealthy people, who need the jab, medicines, doctors, etc are the ones forcing the healthy or whoever it is who doesn't want to take it. It is like in a rainy day, you expecting me to wear an umbrella because then yours wouldn't work. You should get another kind of umbrella then, or get 5 umbrella booster each year, so you dont get wet

maybe you don't see it. try to look behind the smoke and mirrors. you are being constantly checked like in the chess game. this is just a step in the "new normal" society. PCRs and antigen are just an intermediary step. they want you vaxxed. they want some percentage slaves, most dead both inside and out. search for klaus schwab interviews. maybe you'll get it right.

"We discussed our concerns with the specialist doctor who has treated her for years. The doctor researched the topic and reached the opinion that she is at increased risk of severe adverse effects due to her condition. We presented to the authorities a note written by the doctor detailing my wife's situation and the conclusion that vaccination is therefore not worth the risk for her.

Our request was rejected. My wife will not receive an exemption from the Opportunity Pass restrictions. We received no explanation. As far as we know, there is no appeal.

We don't know what happened in her case. But in general, our government is opposed to medical exemptions. The authorities have announced that they only allow medical exemptions in cases where a certified allergist doctor finds, through extensive documented testing, that a person is severely allergic to the substance within the vaccine (anaphylactic reactions). In an interview, an official of the Ministry of Health stated that such an allergy is the only allowable exemption and the Ministry dislikes "the tendency to use medical excuses as a justification to not vaccinate"."

they have now undermined doctor-patient trust.

I'm also in LT, you can get the vaccine and passport; even if you think its unsafe for wife to get it.
