It also doesn't look right if you turn off CSS styling.

It's not just you. CSS is bad.

What's wrong with that CSS?

that is some awful looking css you have there.

idk what to say about that. Maybe you are using css wrong then

Blame your browser, it barely modifies the default styling.

I noticed the same, what's going on? Too much complex CSS?

If you didn't enable CSS it would look fine. I certainly don't entrust the presentation of content to web designers, that would be idiotic.

Yeah, it looks dreadful.

We will get downvoted, of course, because omitting css is "cool" on HN.

Unfortunately, CSS doesn't really fix that problem.

It looks like raw html styling. Maybe browsers' default stylesheets aren't keeping up with the needs of all users.

The CSS/JS on the website is broken.

Crappy CSS. Zooming out doesn't help either.

Try styling it (CSS). I've been there. One more reason not to use it.

I guess semantically it doesn't make sense and messes up the content flow for those who don't have css enabled on whatever browser they're using.

I feel all this needs is a little CSS to make things actually readable. In it's current state, it looks awful. Really confusing.

black on white, links not underlined, letter spacing and uppercase in links wrong, line-height / parapgraph spacing ratio wrong (this one's most important and making it all ugly IMO), two column index - that one's really cruel, uppercase / lowercase first letter mess all around.

the page definitely looks a lot better with CSS disabled.

I've always found the css to be annoying (and force remove it with res), never mind that it doesn't work at all on mobile.

Is it just me that thinks the CSS on this site is poor and makes the site difficult to read? Viewed it on Firefox.

Because that's not possible to style with CSS.
