For those ofnus less intimately familiar with the TikTok platform and their payouts and their revenue, can you explain why not? I thought they show (video) ads and use money to run the company and pay creators.
It's made by individuals, not TikTok? I'm not really sure if you know what TikTok is after this comment.
Just to clarify, TikTok does not do ad revenue sharing. They have a creator fund, but TikTok creators really make money via brand deals, merch sales and direct donations from fans.
This is great, but even if it is not really in the scope of the article, it's extremely important to know how TikTok makes money. Maybe an external link?
Also, anyone else remembered that scene in Idiocracy? (Not that Tiktok is likely to be as bad...)
Proving that TikTok is just a money-making enterprise, not a CCP tentacle manipulating foreign elections. Otherwise they you just run it at a loss, like Voice of America or RT.
