Russian website, yikes

sort by: page size:

Doesn't help that the site is in Russian

What's the problem with .ru?

The site is blocked in Russia citing national law. Wonder what they've published.

Yes, Russian websites.

I think if I've got the name right, this site was bought by Russians and censored? Heard something about that in a podcast.

I thought the site doesn't support Russia?

Not to mention that some of the tools link to the Russian version of the site.

.ru is double-plus-ungood.

The fact that it's a russian site made my day. Russian hackers man...

A warning to non-russian webmasters?

Fun fact: this site is currently blocked in Russia by Roskomnadzor.

Ironically, this page is blocked in Russia...

What do you mean? Those sites are available from Russia, as far as I know.

Firebug showed me over 400 http requests just for that one article. I wonder how that guy from Russia a few days ago feels about this site?

As others have said, we still has AIMP [aimp.ru]. They're clearly losing on not having a good English website.

Is anyone else intrigued that this is hosted on a Russian domain? I’m thinking ideological honeypot, lol.

.ru sure?

Wow, no need to overreact. I remember VK offered Soviet and Pre-revolutionary versions of their web-site as an easter egg:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VK_%28social_networking_website...

"Russian-speaking users can choose between the standard Russian version and two extras: a Soviet version and a Pre-Revolutionary version. Other than language tweaks (e.g. telegrams for messages and comrades for friends) these versions contain other easter eggs. For example, all private messages in the Soviet version have a stamp saying 'passed server censorship'. The pre-revolutionary version uses old-style Russian orthography. Both extra versions are also ad-free."

Amazon is naturally much bigger, but VK is not a small fry either.

You don't particularly care to view anything on .ru, but you're complaining that you can't open a website (which you'd like to view) which is on .ru. What a bizarre thing to say.
